The Swell Season

The Swell Season has just performed on the Late Show with David Letterman on 2/5. It made me happy to see that they are still making music, I just love this band. I learned about The Swell Season after I saw the indie film "Once". That movie is one of my all-time favorites; I love the music in it and of course the story. "Once" is a very touching love story about two struggling musicians. The girl (played by Marketa Irglova) is a a poor pianist and the man (played by Glen Hansard) is a guitarist and singer. It so happened that Irglova and Hansard became lovers in real life, they fell in love during the shooting of the movie. They also have a band named The Swell Season. And if you happen to not know about it, Once won a lot of awards the year after it came out in 2006. But Irglova and Hansard fell out of love later on (probably the sudden celebrity was too much for their love); I could not help but feel bad about it, anyone who has seen the movie and know that the two main characters were lover in real life will surely be sad on learning that the two have fallen out of love. But despite the fact that they are no longer lovers, they continue to make music (i really love their music).

Now, three years after Once, what is happening to The Swell Season? Well, The Swell Season has just performed “Low Rising” on the Late Show with David Letterman on 2/5. I hope they make more music and more albums will come from them.

Here is the video of the Oscar winning song from Once as performed by Marketa Irglova and Glen Hansard, Falling Slowly:

Here's another one of their songs (don't miss this video) and it is my favorite, If You Want Me:
